Samsung Exynos 5 Octa Core Mobile CPU Will Use All 8 Cores Simultaneously | Deploy Starts in Q4

Samsung Exynos 5 Octa Core

Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa-Core mobile processor has been introduced earlier this year, a Korean based Samsung Electronic and world's famous smartphone maker, now introduced a new mobile processor chip, a "true" Octa-Core processor that have eight cores and will able to use its all eight cores at one time.

Samsung's Exynos 5 Octa is using big.LITTLE technology. However, earlier chip ( comes in Galaxy S4 ) was unable to use its all eight core simultaneously because it have two processors, a Quad-Core Cortex A7 for little task and a Quad-Core Cortex A15 for big tasks that makes four plus four cores is equal to eight cores. But now it is able to use all eight cores for little and big tasks at a time.

"It's usually assumed that the big CPU will do the performance-critical work, however, power-efficient little cores can handle many significant workloads all on their own, so the workload is balanced within the system. big.LITTLE processing is designed to deliver the right combination of processors for a specific job. An eight-core processor with HMP is the truest form of the big.LITTLE technology with limitless benefits to the users of high-performance, low-power mobile products."- Taehoon Kim, vice president, System LSI marketing, Samsung Electonics

The new Eight core Exynos chip with Heterogeneous Multi-Processing ( HMP ) will be ready to deploy in Q4 of this year.

Google To Target Pay Per Gaze AD | Future AD World | New Google's Advertising Program

Pay Per Gaze Advertising

Pay-Per-Gaze! Advertising models in the future may be based on a 'Gaze Tracking System' that monitors eye movements to pin down what the user is looking at and charge advertisers accordingly. The move from 'clicks' to pupil dilations may come after technology giant Google's patent for a Gaze Tracking System became public last week. Pay-per-click is an internet advertising model currently used to direct traffic to websites, in which advertisers pay the publisher ( typically a website owner ) when the ad is clicked.

Originally filed in May 2011, the patent presents an idea for wearers of a head mounted device ( and in 2013 observers are guessing this may be Google Glass ) to have gaze tracked so that the system can pin down exactly what the user is looking at and even the emotional responses via pupil dilation, phys.org reported.

Information about where the user was gazing when viewing the external scene would be sent over to the server.
An image recognition algorithm would be excited on the scene images to identify items within the external scene viewed by the user. A gazing log tracking the identified items viewed by the user would be generated.

"To date eye tracking systems have mostly been limited to research endeavours because of the intrusiveness, high cost, and reliability of these systems," according to the patent.

Google plans to set up an advertising model of pay-per-gaze. "Under a pay-per-gaze scheme, advertisers are charged based upon whether a user actually viewed their advertisement," the patent explained.

AMD 5GHz Microprocessor(CPU) | World's First 5GHz CPU | Gaming FX 9590

AMD 5GHz CPU

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced "AMD FX-9590" and "AMD FX-9370, World's first commercial 5GHz and 4.7GHz CPU for PC's.

The eight-core FX-9590 will debut in destop PC's this summer. It probably won't come cheap and it consume amount of power at 220 Watts.

At E3, AMD demonstrated why is at the core of gaming," Bernd Lienhard said "The new FX 5GHz processor is an emphatic performance statement to the most demanding gamers seeking ultra-high resolution experiences, including AMD Eyefinity technology. This is another proud innovation for AMD in delivering the world’s first commercially available 5 GHz processor.”

As these are enthusiast chips, overclocking will also be a significant factor - the top Ivy Bridge and Haswell (Intel i7 4000 series) can both overclock about 15% over stock speeds ; it's unknown whether there will be similar overclocking headroom left in AMDs latest. If these chips can hit 5.7GHz, and if doing so does not raise power draw to utterly intolerable levels, these chips won't be disadvantaged - however that is a very big if.

In the end, it's hard to see Richland making a big change to the market this year. AMD's big chance should come when it releases a new architecture, known as Kaveri, planned to start manufacturing late this year, with the first systems in early 2014. This introduces an updated CPU core architecture known as "Steamroller," which should offer an improvement in raw CPU horsepower, and what AMD is calling heterogeneous Uniform Memory Access (hUMA), which should allow the CPU and GPU units to work together more closely.
